Hi, Just saw a pair in Romania at a shop. Looks cool. One concern that I have. On side hill and traverses what will keep the Smallfoots from sliding downhill at the heels? The reason I liked the MSR Denali was that the metal crampon that runs along the length of the shoe prevents this slippage.
Thank you for the comment.
For our model Universal featured in this article we offer optional rear crampons. They provide extra grip on traverses and steeper terrain. For the ones who want to conquer the higher mountain we have developed our most advanced model Revolution https://smallfoot.eu/smallfoot-revolution/
We can understand your concern about slipping but in the construction of our snowshoes the sole of the shoe is positioned lower than the floating platform. This allows effective use of the soles of your own shoes. Feedback we get from users is that with Small Foot they feel more stable as they have better sense of the terrain below their feet.
We would like to point out that we are not competing with the regular snowshoes. The main idea of Small Foot is that you get snowshoes which can be packed really small and safe when you have finished the snowshoeing part of your journey and you can freeride, BASE jump, paraglide or ice climb in the mountain.
